God is only in the calling distance!

God is only in the calling distance!

  19. Mr Subbaiah!

Me not an atheist. But I dont group myself together with you, the proud atheists. I am here writing to you from a neutral point of view.

All of you, atheists, believe in, what you call, God is only in the calling distance. Many respondents here have posted personal experiences of knowing the thiruvilayaiyaadals of God in their lives. The great God have chosen them for his special favour. I am jealous of them!

May I ask you to imagine the following situation:

Subbiah was born, but, immediately after birth, thrown into a forest. He grew up among animals.

Is God within the calling distance for him? Before that, will Subbiah think about God at all?

What about millions of people who have no time to think about such a God for variety of reasons of their own?

Dont you think, that it requires fertile imagination to have the very concept of God?

Meaning in english (This is for younger generation)

I have no problem Oh, Lord, Kanna! I do not have anything to say, Kanna!
I have no complaint, Oh, Govindaa!

You are invisible, Oh, kanna! Yet, I have no problem, Oh, Kanna!

When Lord Venkateswara is ready to give us what we want, why do we desire anything, Oh, Kanna! Manivanna, malaiappa, Govindaa!

You are standing behind a screen, Oh Lord! Only those scholars who are well-versed in the Vedas can “see” you. Yet, I have no problem; No problem even if I do not see You.

Oh Lord, You are standing on a hill. I do not have any problem still.
You have incarnated yourself into a stone-form recognising the necessity during Kali Yuga. You are permanently here in this Temple.
You do not refuse the request from any of your devotees. You also have the merciful Goddess Lakshmi residing in Your chest. So, what deficiency can I have?
I have no complaint, Kanna, manivanna, malaiappa, Govindaa, Govindaa!
Govindaa, Govindaa! Govindaa, Govindaa! Govindaa, Govindaa!

    - I have corrected it to read, theist.

You are a believer, so you are an theist.

I have always noted a sense of pride in believers as if they have been chosen by God for his exclusive attention. They show the pride after such thiruvilaiyaadals as mentioned by some members here.

Definitely, there is a benefit in feeling such a pride. He will continue to be a believer.

As long as God is good to me, I love God. If God is not good to me, I reject God.

You may thing otherwise. But my opinion is that, it is very very rare to see a person who continues to believe in God if he is not given any benefit by God, repeatedly.

They go to Tirupathi asking for something. If it does not come to them, after repated visits to that temple, they will turn their attention to another God.

If all Gods fail them, they will be atheist.

Belief in God is differently experienced by common people and by parama njaanikaL.

For the commonfolks, all that I have written above will apply. For the paramanjaani, it wont apply.

There is no sense of pride or loss, or despondency or dejection in them. Their approach to God is far, far different from ours.

    God is without expectations.

Whenever I read the believers and their averments in favor of God, such thoughts run in my mind. That is why, I said, proud.

First and foremost, please give up the habit of associating word bad intent.

Imagination is a good word. Its meaning is understood by you negatively.

Without imagiantion, it is impossible to be a believer in God.

To think that God has shown a favour for you, requires what? God has not appeared before you to say exactly it is I who have done you that, hasnt he?

Then, what has made you believe that the hand of an unseen God has helped you?

    Thank you.Mr Subbaiah!

It requires imagination to believe in God.

I only talked about the belief in God in people. Not real life. No question of mismatch by me!!

You accept that imagination is all that makes our belief originate.

I know well you wont tolerate a student teaching you. So, you are making rebuttals. Rebuttal for rebuttal sake!
Be that as it may! I dont bother.

In your solitude, that means, out of classes and dropping your ego as a teacher to all, (that is a big stumbling block for you, in dealing with persons like me!!) you may go deeper and deeper into the Question:

    What makes us believe?

What helps us to believe in a God whom we cant see, hear and feel? (Dont cite the thiruvilayaadals).

Please dont write back. Think deep:

    What makes you believe? Thiruvilaiyaadals?

    I said, imagination.

It is not at all my original thought. It was the considered opinion of people who wrote on religion, belief and God. I accept that, after much thought.

If you are a free intellectual daring to explore, you may take such books and listen to what the considered opionions of people on the subject.

    It is imagination.

As I said already, dont fear the word 'imagination'.

It is not an insult to your God to say:

God, I see you, I hear you, listen, to you - all using my imagination. God is not going to punish you for such act. It is not an insult. God is not a teacher with a cane to beat you for that! He is an indulgent daddy or mummy!

Unless you doubt, all your bhakti is a sham, a self-delusion.

Only from doubt, you will progress to certainty.

    Enlightened bhakti is real bhakti.

It is better to doubt and be a non-believer, than accept unquestioningly and say I am a believer. Because, the former is a truthful person, the latter is a liar, untrue to his own self!

Read the following lines from a man who ascended great spiritual heights in God realisation:

O WORLD invisible, we view thee,
O world intangible, we touch thee,
O world unknowable, we know thee,
    Inapprehensible, we clutch thee!

To write the four lines, he passed through loads and loads of doubts.

  48. Dear Mr.Karikkulam,

Here is an info for your seeking!

God and astrology are not the matter of belief, they are to be understood.

You may please consult spiritual books authored by Hindu seers and saints to verify whether approach to God on profit motive is given as an end for a Hindu? Are you a Hindu or not? A Hindu is born in this world and leads his life only with the intention of breaking his cycle of his births? Are you aware of that? You are going to backtrack defending “I am an ordinary person”. 56. The hymn by Rajaji is deceptively simple. It is in Tamil, so easy to understand the outer meaning. It is a very popular hymn to Thirupathi Venkateswarar. A book by Mukkur Narasimaachaariyaar had the same title and was serialised in Kalki. You can get it in any book shop at Chennai.

Mr Subbaiah, may read it again and tell us what he understands from it.

    Others, too, may pl. try.

As for me, not here. I only want to know how such a hymn is read and understood by people.

To write the four lines, he passed through loads and loads of doubts./////

    Dear Mr.Karikkulam,
Here is an info for your seeking!
God and astrology are not the matter of belief, they are to be understood

You are the man who put up the hymn of Rajaji.

In your reply to me, you said, people go to God with expectations. When I pointed out that it is against Hindu principles, you dont want to accept that.

In the hymn, there are meanings which you could not understand. You think it is just a hymn which can make you a great aanmikavaathi.

But your position that we go to god to engage in a commercial transaction with him - I have come to you with expectations; Give me that. Only then you are my god - is commercialisation. Like you go to a shop to buy something with your money.

Rajaji's hymn is a severe blow on such commercialisation.

Without any ability to handle English langauge, you even had the temerity to translate the hymn for younger generations.

You want them like you? You want them to distort the hymn of Rajaji?

Your anmigam is nothing but your ego.

In the hymn, Rajaji dissolves his ego.

I expected at least one or two member to tell me how they felt. None dit.

Subbaiah, I am not interested in further arguments with you.

You are a person who think, anmikam is easy.

It is difficult even to njaanis.

All that you can do, conduct a class and make a show of animikam. Go home convinced that you have achieved anmikam.

Thus, live in a world of your own.

You tell me to read Bhagwat Gita.

A lot of things that you write is against what is written the Gita.

If I explain them, that will shater your blog entries on anmikam

You are a Hindu - a person who writes and pass off all that goes against the Hindu religious philosophy...a Hindu?

There are so many imposters like you who write on anmikam in many blogs.

Anmikam is just a belief in God. If you believe in God, that is sufficient to say you have anmikam.

It is not necessary to shave your head, wear a pattai or naamam, and kaavi veett.

The religious man like saamiyaar and you, not a saamiyaar, both are anmika vaathis.

    A poorest man gives a 10 Rs note in charity (tharumam), which is his capacity;

A richest man gives a crore rupees in tharumam, which is his capacity.

Both are good, in their own way. Both have shown tharumam. Both are equal, because both have touched their maximum capacity.

Similarly, animkam is according to one's place and ability. The basic belief in God is the one and only criterian to decide whether you have it or not.

So, your statement that a person shows signs of becoming an anmikavaathi in a distant future, is not well thought out by you.

You need to think before passing opinion on others.

I dont bother about anmikam. But when and where I find that this ikam is shown to boost one's ego and used to mislead others, I enter and put in the brakes.

    Dear Mr. Karrikulam,

First of all, I want to clarify some things to you.
Pls don’t take it as an advice; it’s just a request from your friend.

After reading all your posts, I feel that you will have to change the following 3 things in order to get a healthy progress:

    1. You are too fast to conclude anything that you read / come across. This often makes you fall into preconception. This may even make you too argumentative or immature critic and get you away from the right path.

    2. You concentrate more on others’ words than what they really feel or what they want you to understand. Nobody can express the spiritual ideas in human language perfectly as you think. May be few genuises like Osho, Vivekananda, JK, etc can do so to certain extent. It is because human language itself has its own limitations.

[I hope you don’t say your usual point “you are escaping from the topic”!]

So, whenever you look at one’s words, please try to FEEL the meaning.

    3. You want to get Many Big Things clarified just in a blog or a discussion/argument like this. This is just Not Possible.

We may go on discussing the topic using various opinions, books and quotes. But, all these are lenghtier routes to understand Anmikam / Truth / Existence.

[I hope you don’t say your usual point “you are escaping from the topic”!]

The only way to realise Anmikam is MEDITATION or SEEKING WITHIN.

Why am I telling all this to you? Only because, I am amazed by Your Serious Seeking of Truth!

Vivekananda had thousands of questions in himself, even after reading more than about 10,000 books and meeting not less than 100 people (of course, many are well-informed), why?

I think you are now in similar situation….

    May Ketu Bless All!

  89. You are too fast to conclude anything that you read / come across. This often makes you fall into preconception. This may even make you too argumentative or immature critic and get you away from the right path//

No...I didnt. I have been reading all subbiah's blog for the past one month.
And the fact that he is a teacher led me to think he is a teacher by profession. That shocked me. He is full of superstitions; accept things without questioning. And, when I pointed out that he would make morons of his students, he denied it.

A student comes to know soon how his teacher will feel, what he will like from his students,. The student will take care to behave exactly what his teacher will want from him in order to escape the punishment of the teacher. It is a simple matter of pedagogy anywhere in the world. That is why, a good teacher wont give the impression of being overbossy in his relationship with students.

This gave me a shock. In TN, we dont make thinkers; but only silent acceptors.

That is why, I entered his blog to point out to him. Then, I found, along with him, there is a crowd of men, I am very much dismayed.

Lets leave him out. He started censoring me; and hypocritically posting stories. A few members point out the hypocricy: he denies ti. The main point of his stories is the same:

Accept all without questioning. Both the stories he has posted carry the same message. I am very sorry for people who read his blog.

Remember, anyone can write a story to make any point look valid. A devil can recite scriptures to prove his point, cant it?

Coming to you, you claim to have read a lot. Your immediate response to me was to show off that you are a great thinker. I poked fun at it, dragging your words like metaphysic. You have not taken care to know the meaning of it. At least now, may you know the meaning of the word.

So, you have concluded who I am, by just reading a two or three of my responses. Sufficient? Is it commonsense to judge a person like that? Will any fool hang a man on the first day of trial? You are doing that. Know more about me: what are my points and what are my general way of thinking etc. Have you known that? If you dont want to, then how do you put labels on me and start giving a long piece of advice to me?

Any subject is an ocean. You pretend to teach others about anmikam. When asked doubts, you are now writing a long piece of advice.

How do you manage software programming: psychology, philsophy, astrolgy, your famour word, metaphysics and spirituality?

I say this, because, it is all pretension on your side. One cant know all these things in a masterly way. Why do you pretend vinoda vel?

When I asked what anmikam is, you now want to dodge the question saying it is not possible to explain here. Then, why did you say that to me?

Why not in a blog by you? If there is one, let me come there; and learn from you.

More about anmikam in my next response.

There are hundreds of definitions for Anmikam!
But, all convey the similar meaning though the words are different.
Once you understand the core meaning, you don't need any definition.

The simple but precise definition is:
    “Anmikam = Seeking the truth”
“Anmikavathi = One who tries to understand the truth”
You can call Periyar (E.V.Ramasamy) also as an Anmikavathi!

Sorry, I neither took it personally nor wanted to escape! Ok.
It is Not at all necessary for amikavaathi to shave his head, wear a pattai or naamam, and kavvi vetti.
It was a custom needed for them in ancient times for some philosophical, biological and safety reasons. Some of them help us even now. For example, wearing a good quality improves the functioning of your pituitary gland.

Let me clarify again - I am not a psyschologist, metaphysician or astrologer but I am trying to understand the life from these perspectives.

I am a spiritualist and not at all Religionist.

Your attitude is good but your viewpoints on ‘Ego, misleading’ etc needs finetuning.
    ///
Guide me here also. How to fine tune?
    ////
To be simple, I opine that finetuning comes from the understanding of others and love towards all.

For example, before making your comments on Subbiah sir’s blogs, have you made any efforts like:
    Who is Subbiah?
What he wants to say thru this blog?
What he has said so far?
How many people come to this blog?
What kinds of people come? What they feel?
What kind of impact it makes on most users?
    .. etc

    There is another thing.
If you really want to make others understand your viewpoints better, first you have to begin communicating with pros of a topic. This creates a cordial metaphysical connection between your mind and the listener’s. Then, you start telling the cons of the same topic.
Otherwise, whatever you criticise will just end as an argument and the purpose won’t be served!

    Hope this helps you!

    May Ketu Bless All!

I think what you mean by ‘superstition’ is Mythological stories, am I Right?

    //
Coming to you, you claim to have read a lot. Your immediate response to me was to show off that you are a great thinker. I poked fun at it, dragging your words like metaphysic. You have not taken care to know the meaning of it. At least now, may you know the meaning of the word.
Any subject is an ocean. You pretend to teach others about anmikam. When asked doubts, you are now writing a long piece of advice.
I say this, because, it is all pretension on your side. One can’t know all these things in a masterly way. Why do you pretend vinoda vel?
Why not in a blog by you? If there is one, let me come there; and learn from you.
    //

I am happy that i have made a serious man like you laugh!

You know one thing? the dictionary definition "metaphysics is a part of Philosophy" is in fact wrong!

I never said that I am a master in anything. Read my response again.
I never teach anmikam to anybody. When I am asked, I just try to elucidate!

    Pretension? Me? :))))

I don’t have a blog at present. It will come soon. If you want, I can enter your blog.
Yes, taking too much space on other’s blog is not good.
